Greetings from Andrew Dabeka

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Greetings from a very sunny and warm Orange, California. It has been a pretty smooth week thus far. I have won all my matches in two sets (though some of those were close). The tournament was definitely weaker this time around. With the Olympics approaching, I don't think many foreigners were interested in travelling far and wide this close to the Games. That being said, I have faced some fairly talented opponents. In my second round match I played against a young Dane. In my quarter-final match yesterday, I was up against the number one American player. I just played my semi-final match against the top player from Guatemala, Kevin Cordon. He's the best player from Central and South America. I won that one in two games, 21-19 and 21-11. I'm up against another Dane, Martin Bille Larsen, in the final tomorrow night.

It is nice to play a tournament which I am purely using as a stepping-stone for my Olympic tournament. I can simply and easily focus on my sharpening my performance, without worrying or thinking AT ALL about the outcome. I'm looking forward to again trying to play my best badminton in tomorrow's match, and then getting back to my final preparations prior to leaving for Beijing. I'll send another email out after tomorrow night's match.

All the best!

Andrew
