On February 5th, Vedant Sardeshpande received the title of top badminton athlete in Ottawa for the year 2024 and was awarded a $1000 scholarship at the 72nd Annual Ottawa Sports Awards held at the Infinity Convention Centre. Vedant Sardeshpande is a grade twelve student at St. Joseph High School, Sardeshpande went undefeated in his five boys’ singles main draw matches and earned the OFSAA gold medal – the first for an Ottawa player in 14 years. He also captured gold in singles at the 2024 Quebec U19 championship. Sardeshpande trains out of the RA Centre and SCaPT badminton club.
