    • Top seeded Fu/Cai pair of China(the gold medal holder) lost to Malaysia’s Lee Wan Wah and Choong Tan Fook . 21-15,18-21,19-21. These two pairs last met at Singapore Open in May. Cai-Fu won 21-16, 22-24, 18-21 in 69 minutes.
    • #2 seeded Tan Boon Heong, and Koo Kien Keat of Malaysia lost to an unseeded Japanese pair 13-21,21-17,23-25
  • Ladie's Singles third round: #2 seeded Xinfang Xie of China (the gold medal holder) was badly beaten by an young player of Malaysia 10-21,8-21
