Local Sports - Playing for the first time as a doubles pair, sisters Kimberley and Courtney Leung, struck gold at the National Capital Secondary Schools Athletic Association (NCSSAA) senior badminton championships at the RA Centre. In the final match, they defeated another sister team, Dalia and Maya Levin, 15-12 and 15-8. Kimberley and Courtney are grade 11 and grade 9 students respectively at Sir Robert Borden High School. While this is Courtney¡¯s first year in the secondary schools competition, Kimberley won the NCSSAA silver medal last year in the mixed doubles category. For the Leung sisters, the latest victory follows a successful performance recently by eldest sister Jennifer as a member of Ottawa¡¯s 2006 Ontario Winter Games Badminton Team, which won a bronze medal. As a result of their win, Kimberley and Courtney are off next week to compete in the Ontario High Schools championship in Timmins.
